2020 Water Polo Update

The Sac-Joaquin Section (SJS) held a meeting Monday, where they decided to delay the "fall" sports season until December.  The "winter" and "spring" sports seasons will run simultaneously starting in March (this includes the swim season).

The SJS website shows our first practice day on 12/14. You can expect our first game to be in January, and the season ends in late February.

Certain adjustments will need to be made for this adjusted schedule.  Warm attire for on-deck athletes is just one example.  I will be conferring with school administrators about these potential adjustments.  If you have specific concerns regarding the adjusted schedule and what that means for our season, please let me know.  I will do my best to answer or direct you to a more knowledgeable source of information.

As a side note, club players who are hoping to play in the December Junior Olympics will be allowed by CIF to participate in both programs simultaneously this season.

Things for you to think about now:

  1. Academic Eligibility: Distance learning is hard for some learning styles.  If you want to become a better student but don't know your learning style, that can be a good first step.  Please be diligent in your studies this fall so you are eligible for our season.

  2. Athletic Clearance: Oakmont has resumed processing athletic clearances as of this Monday.  Please note, there is at least one extra step to getting cleared to participate due to COVID-19.  Please consider getting this done as soon as possible to avoid delays in participation this season.
